Developer Team Lead/Scrum Master Intern

June 2022 to August 2022

Following my first session with J.B. Hunt as described below, I was granted the additional responsibility to serve as the team lead and scrum master for a group of new intern developers full-time for 8 weeks. In addition to continuing my own development work, I assisted them with completing and releasing another 14 work items into production. In total, I ran over 50 effective meetings including our quick daily standups and our more involved agile ceremonies each sprint. This role was especially rewarding when I was able to help my new teammates work through tricky issues that I struggled with when I first started working there, enabling them to become productive and add value for our team in a very short amount of time. Working in a leadership role on an agile team gave me a greater appreciation for my management, product owners, and dedicated teammates.

Software Development Intern

February 2022 to June 2022

In my first session with J.B. Hunt, I worked full-time as a software development intern integrated into an agile development team for 16 weeks. In this time, I learned countless new softwares and concepts from the Spring Framework for Java back-end work to Angular for front-end typescript development. I was able to complete 22 user stories and bug fixes, installing all of them into the production environment, and even closing out an entire feature for my team. Along with managing database interactions with SQL and JPQL, updating countless API endpoints, and connecting them with front-end services, I worked on updating dependencies to resolve 200+ common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) across the platform.

Sensors and Systems Sub-Team Member

August 2021 to May 2022

Gatorloop is the University of Florida’s entry into the annual SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. I set up the radios and antennae that will be used to transmit data between the hyperloop pod’s onboard computer and the remote-control center. I also worked alongside the controls sub-team to design the framework for transmitting sensor data including velocity, acceleration, temperatures, and battery statuses.

Data Visualization Specialist

January 2021 to May 2021

In the Civic Scholars program of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, I conducted research on social determinants of health across the state of Florida and created an accessible public health data portal for both individual and government uses. As my team’s data visualization specialist, I used ArcGIS to summarize findings into an interactive storymap highlighting disparities between different demographic regions with regard to access to HIV testing, found here.
